Turquoise and Pink dragons by Reptangle Turquoise and Pink dragons by Reptangle
Oriental dragons in two of my favorite colors. I have been airbrushing these in various colors to try and come up with new paint schemes for production pieces .
The image on the right has been flipped in photoshop, these are both castings of the same sculpture.
They hold a dichroic globes in their paws, have glass eyes and gold plated pewter horns

God look at that perfect scales! Do you have any tip on how to make them so perfect?
Are you the painter too?

I can choose my favorite XD

I carve most of the details in a gypsum ( dense plaster) reproduction of the original clay sculpture. Each scale of these dragons was carved, sanded and polished individually.

I airbrushed many of the sculptures  in this gallery, but there are also some pics that I swiped from the store images on the Windstone website: windstoneeditions.com/catalog
Almost all of those were airbrushed  by our hardworking production painters.

Ohh I would say! Because I always see your WIPs in sculpey, but those scales didn't look made on that.
Gypsum! Oh that is a great technique! And you is such a master of sculpting!
How many hours do you usually work on each sculpture?
Thank you for answering!

I am not sure how many hours I spend on each one, but we figure that in actual elapsed time, it takes a full year from rough clay sculpt to finished piece. This includes mold making, casting, painting and finishing.

Oh you take a lot of time to finish each project too!
They are lovely sculptures. Someday I will save up for one. Hard will be to choose!

Thank you! These two are my favorites. For some reason these seem easy to look at; you don't have to think too much.

What, no CHEESE??!

I still think you should have kept the cheese with that little oriental dragon that had the shiny bit in its mouth. However, it might not have garnered as much attention as these little beauties. They have such sweet faces...

Your airbrushing skills are amazing. I need to get better at it. What kind of airbrush do you use?

The ones I use are are called "Rich Pens". I think they are a discontinued brand of Iwata. I use several different sizes.

I should put these two on a shelf facing each other. They do look lovely together! I just need a shell pink young oriental to go with the big one!

The shell pink was my favourite oriental ever. I like the turquoise pearl more than this one, but he's still super gorgeous. I'm sure either would be super popular as production! This image is great too, they make a nice set.
