Salp bath Background by Reptangle Salp bath Background by Reptangle
Working digitally, you can design your panels like an animation cell or a stage play . This is the background set of the salp bath area. I put  a lot of time into the background, then crop and cover up most of it.

Admittedly, there is a yuck factor... but at the same time I kind of want to try that bath...

It was supposed to be yucky... imagine soaking in wriggling, cold, gelatinous little happy creatures... yet it is kinda soothing...

It is hard to believe that I used to do this in real media, drawing the backgrounds in, separately in  each panel... oh my gosh... but that is what all comic artists DID in them olden days! Incredible. Some still do.

I tried to do that but I got lazy ^^; but my skill isn't enough for the backgrounds themselves to stand alone.  :c

asdfghjkl thank you ;3;
I use Sai and I kinda cheat and use the curvy line tool because I just can't get my tablet to work for me lol
All the sketches are on paper first and then I take a picture (I used to scan it but someone crushed the usb on my scanner) and I line it then color with the tablet :)

Wow! I am still" inking" in photoshop. It does not lend itself to great line work. My line work is a total disaster, but I keep telling myself I will go back and re-do it someday .

I actually like your linework :) You make things that aren't real look so real! When I try to do lines without the curve they get all bubbly, like some parts are wider than others, and it drives me insane XD
