Occellated turkey griffin by Reptangle Occellated turkey griffin by Reptangle
I don't often paint griffins with metallic colors, but Occellated turkeys are gorgeous, so I tried that theme on this guy.
He was auctioned on Ebay.

This is a gypsum reproduction of my original sculpture, produced by Windstone editions.[link]
He is about 8 1/2 inches tall.

I was so excited when I found this in the #occellated turkey tag on Tumblr, you have no idea! Galliforms have always had a special place in my heart. Gorgeous, gorgeous birds, incredibly interesting from a biological POV and every chicken (and, unfortunately, a capercaillie) I’ve known have had distinct personalities, for better or worse.

In any case, out of all of the birds in this order, the occellated turkey is one of the most striking, and I finally found a piece of art that does it justice. Thank you so much for this! It's very lovely.

Thank you! I like this one a lot too.
The detailing on the feathers takes too long to paint for this design to be painted as an edition, unless we charged a fortune for it!... or simplified the pattern. I try to keep the editions of things somewhat reasonable in price.
Hey I just realized he is the colors of a metallic June beetle!

The shape and pose reminds me of the last sculpture you made, though to me the coloration on this sculpture look more like those of a peacock though. The setting is nice to a black body with luminescent feathers, as the blues aquas, greens, and copper, I think that the bluish eyes match just as nicely, well sculpted. :)

That is one of the wilder color schemes I've seen, and considering your penchant for using cephalopods as your jumping-off point, that's saying something. I love the harmony of blue, green, and orange on this guy!

Oh my holy heck, that is one beautiful sculpture.
The colours you chose and used look absolutely amazing together! They make your griffin look so regal, powerful and exotic all at the same time.

Anyways, wonderful job.
