Gold Hatching Dragon by Reptangle Gold Hatching Dragon by Reptangle
A hatching dragon painted in gold, with silver trim and metallic silver eyes.
These little guys really give me headaches. They are harder to paint than big dragons, and have always been one of our most popular designs, so we have had to paint zillions of them over the years.

I have the sapphire one (mixture of blue and purple). I've always thought this was so beautiful and one of the most gorgeous baby dragon sculptures I've seen. We've had this for a long time too and very proud to still keep it in great condition sitting visibly upon the shelf ! Looking back on where we got it I believe my mother got it from InConjunction in Indiana and when I surprisingly discovered your Deviant Art page on here (by recognizing the style of beautiful work) I showed your awesome page to my mother and she said your name sounds very familiar ! It's so cool to see you on Deviant Art. The signature on the side of the rock on the sculpture says "Pena 84". Indeed the work is old but it's still great! And it's exciting your gallery shows your years of progress, it's all amazing. ^_^

That's wonderful to hear! I am always amazed to find people on DA who own these. Small world!

Wow, I got one from my uncle a few years ago and I had no idea it was made by you. You you put and kind of logos on them. The one I have is a little purple one.

I must say I love my little Emerald version. I have her on a shelf with the royal trio and 4 others (and two of your wizards) and I want to say thank you for putting the time and effort into my little darlings. I love my dragons, and my flock of Emeralds is my prode and joy. I plan on getting more once I have a job and no longer rely on my aunt to hand them down to me, which hipefully will be only another year or so.

Why are these harder to paint?

You have to keep the egg clean, while using a plastic stencil to cover it(the stencils can get dirty on the underside and transfer that to the egg) and you have to keep all of the edges of the dragon color nice and precise without over-spray. Those little toes are murder!
These aren't impossible to paint, but it is very work-intensive. This piece isn't really big enough to charge the amount we would need to make it worthwhile to produce.

Yeah it is too bad it needs to be as expensive as it is( it costs more to make stuff in America!)
You can sometimes find "used" pieces pretty cheap on ebay!

I'm happy to say that this is the little guy I have sitting up in my room! He's a ruby colour, though. You did a brilliant job with him, thank you so very much <3

I actually have this one in emerald . . . it was one of the two I own of yours, mainly because I can't afford any of the bigger ones :( If I were rich I'd have the whole dragon collection for sure

smiles, sorry they give you headaches, but they are quite cute and being small more people have room to place them in their homes.

I like his face..but I always thought the size of the egg wasnt quite big enough when I tried to picture his body and head all in that egg. I've seen some neat colorations on him that I think are interesting...but I'll confess none of them ever 'grabbed' my desire to make a purchase.

When I sculpted him, I first made a whole baby dragon and posed him in fetal position as if he was packed into an egg, to see how big the egg would have to be!

This was always my least favourite if the hatching dragons. The Emperor and Empress (which I have one of) are far superior. :D

I agree. This was the very first dragon I sculpted for Windstone, and I didn't know what I was doing. It is not as polished as the later dragons, but we have hesitated discontinuing it because it is our best seller!

Yeah, I thought so too, although I considered buying it since it was actually in my price range.
I do have one of the other hatching dragons, which I love. ^-^ It lives in front of my computer.
