Gargoyle Unicorn in White by Reptangle Gargoyle Unicorn in White by Reptangle
This guy, painted in a natural stone finish, was retired from the Windstone gargoyle line about four years ago.
He is back now, painted in antique white. He has metallic gold trim and a painted gold and copper pewter horn.
He is a gargoyle , so he has the requisite gargoyle attitude of stony ferocity.
(This photograph makes his head and front legs look much bigger than they really are)

It was a LOOOONG time ago at the test market in Austin, Texas. We're talking about 1989 or so. Two were sent there. I got one and my brother got the other. Should I post pictures of him???

Would you please? Coincidentally, we are trying to authenticate another set of black dragons right now. These are totally jet black with no color on them at all.
Where yours the ones on display in an auto dealership?

Yes! Completely jet black, mine with a green stone in its head and Ron's with an amethyst stone, blue eyes and no gloss finish coat like the others have.

Another set of black dragons, you say? My information directly from Windstone is that there were only the three, but we only talked about the males.

No, mine was not at a dealership. He's lived in my house these twenty something years, watching over me as I write. He was, in fact, the inspiration for the black dragon in the Brawrloxoss series.

This is very handy news! So the others can't be real. Where did you and your brother get them?

I'd almost like to think that the others are. It would be exciting news. Ron and I got ours at a Wicks'n Sticks in Austin, one that closed around twenty years ago. Someone there told Ron that they were a test market for Windstone so we haunted the place when we could looking for new stuff to come out.

By the ty, I own 11 of those sitting males, all in different colors. Including the black one, I believe five of them have been retired! What can I say? I'm a Windstone junkie.

My goodness! Yup, those are the real deal! I would LOVE to have a good, clear, high resolution picture to post on our forum, or maybe you could post a picture of him on there? The Windstone forum is a good place to gently push your books too, if they are about dragons. The forum is a hive of dragon junkies...[link]
I am so happy you appeared! The black dragons you,and your brother own are very rare originals that were painted before we started documenting,(and signing) all the various test paints we did. We have lost track of many of them!

The ones that are, or were, on display in an auto dealer's showroom had a hint of color on them.

Oooh, very pretty! Definitely still has that gargoyle look, even with the white.

I've got the Dragon Gargoyle, and to this day, he's one of my favorites in my collection. :]

You're quite welcome. :]

If you'll pardon my waxing nerdy for a moment, I have very fond memories of spending time in one of my local gift shops when I was younger and marveling at all of the Windstone critters. Finding you now on DA is bringing back a lot of happy memories. Thanks much for that. :]

I learned something new the other day! Did you know, that technically, 'gargoyle' only refers to those stone creatures which were also spouts (though the mouth)? The various beastie carvings that are NOT spouts that most people call 'gargoyles' are actually called 'grotesques'. If I understand, all gargoyles are grotesques, but not all grotesques are gargoyles.

Yeah, "Gargoyle" has incorrectly been stuck to any western monster made out of stone with its mouth open. I guess we aren't helping any!

Gargoyle = Gritty texture, sad soulless eyes, face locked in an eternal silent scream.

I love the leaf mane, beard, and tail. :D
