Barn owl by Reptangle Barn owl by Reptangle
This barn owl is one of our old, original pieces that we cast and sold when Windstone was first started, in 1984. Windstone was originally called "Mark Hines Creations" because the whole thing was Mark Hines' idea!

When we realized that fantasy things-and dragons in particular - sold much better than real animals, we discontinued the entire line of regular creatures and concentrated on weird ones.

When we moved our factory from California to Oregon we rediscovered a hoard of these old castings that had been packed away, unfinished, for years. This Owl was one of them.

His feet have always been an embarrassment to me; the toes on this older version of the sculpt are incorrect, as well as the feathering on the feet. Barn owls have bare legs.

I airbrushed these unpainted old owls and sold them as a limited edition on Ebay.

What a fun piece of history from Windstone! Even though it's not a perfect owl, it's a nice one all the same.

I would have loved to see this guy airbrushed as a Snowy owl, with those turquoise eyes - in both male and female editions. I would have fought every bidder for that guy.

We did do these in snowy owl at one time, but not with turquoise eyes... hmm

I LOVE THIS OWL! I know you said this is discontinued. Will you ever be making a new version for your store?

I don't have any plans to have these exact owls produced again ( I don't think we have molds for this pieces any more) -but , I never say never. If I did make a new barn owl, I would want to make it with the correct barn owl legs! This one has fluffy legs, like a snowy owl.
